WRSI Oldies: Airplane, Etta, Amos, Perry
2020-02-24 WRSI Oldies: Airplane, Etta, Amos, Perry
Brian worked at WGAM/WRSI for most of his professional career. He always said he preferred the flat sound of AM, but the FM side was where he did his oldies show. Brian loved standards, like "The Wallflower" (Roll with me, Henry) and "Johnny B. Goode", but he was able to incorporate his unique, eclectic taste into an ostensibly standard 50's and 60's show.
"Lather" was one of Brian's favorite psychedelia. I love the juxtaposition of Amos Milburn ("One Scotch, One Bourbon, One Beer") with Perry Como ("Don't Let The Stars Get In Your Eyes"). And who else could include "No Help Wanted" by the Carlisles along with Richard Harris's "MacArthur Park"?
This show is from October 14, 1993.
